Health
Sacramento NCBW takes a holistic and culturally-based approach in addressing the health of Black women and girls through free seminars and workshops that raise awareness about preventable illnesses and diseases that disproportionately affect the Black community.
Informational and preventative workshops and seminars focus on:
- Metabolic syndrome, including diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease and stroke
- Healthy diets and physical activity
- Maternal and infant health
- HIV/AIDs education and testing
- Mental health, domestic violence, trauma, and grief
- The impact of Covid-19 on our community and families

“Being a healthy woman is not about getting on a scale or measuring your waistline. We need to start focusing on what matters – on how we feel, and how we feel about ourselves.”
