NCBW’S Flagship Mentoring Program Supporting Our Future Leaders
Fostering Hope is a comprehensive mentoring program with the overarching goal of assisting girls between the ages of 12 – 18 in developing positive self-images and confidence through self-care, education, community service, leadership, accountability, showing up and speaking up. The program provides educational workshops and mentoring support in the areas of S.T.E.A.M., community service, a parenting component, educational trips, and an Annual Life’s A-MAZE-N Summit.
Our initiatives:
- Workshops on positive self-esteem, healthy lifestyles, and creativity
- Building and maintaining healthy relationships with peers, family members, educators, and caring adult female mentors
- Developing leadership and practical lifelong learning and living skills
- Improving oral and written communication skills, and academic performance
- Encouraging higher education through free testing support (PSAT/SAT/ACT), college tours, and educational counseling
- Cultural experiences such as theater, art gallery and museum visits
- Teaching Black girls to speak up and speak out
