Fostering Hope

NCBW’S Flagship Mentoring Program Supporting Our Future Leaders

Fostering Hope is a comprehensive mentoring program with the overarching goal of assisting girls between the ages of 12 – 18 in developing positive self-images and confidence through self-care, education, community service, leadership, accountability, showing up and speaking up. The program provides educational workshops and mentoring support in the areas of S.T.E.A.M., community service, a parenting component, educational trips, and an Annual Life’s A-MAZE-N Summit.

Our initiatives:

  • Workshops on positive self-esteem, healthy lifestyles, and creativity
  • Building and maintaining healthy relationships with peers, family members, educators, and caring adult female mentors
  • Developing leadership and practical lifelong learning and living skills
  • Improving oral and written communication skills, and academic performance
  • Encouraging higher education through free testing support (PSAT/SAT/ACT), college tours, and educational counseling
  • Cultural experiences such as theater, art gallery and museum visits
  • Teaching Black girls to speak up and speak out
