Summer Reading Program

“Closing the Literacy Gap”

Sacramento NCBW offers a three-month Summer Reading Program for kindergarten through 8th grade girls. Our reading programs seek to improve students’ success in their education, increase their opportunities to learn and advance their education, and ensure equality in education for Black girls.

Research shows that children who do not read during the summer lose two to three months of reading skills. Our programs fill this gap by keeping young readers engaged and helping them to develop a lifelong love of reading!
